Canberra & District Sporting Terrier Club Inc.

The Club was formed in the mid 1960's by a small band of Terrier enthusiasts who saw a need to cater for the Terrier breeds in the Canberra region. Initially shows were held once a year, this increased to two and now the Club holds 3 Championship Shows a year - two in April and one on the Saturday of the October long weekend. The Club prides itself on selecting Terrier Specialist judges both from Australia and overseas to judge the shows.

Patrons:
The Club's first Patron was Lt Col George Redvers Dunbar. A tall white haired retired Indian Army officer he was a great character with a very upright military bearing. primarily interested in Labradors and in Obedience he had always evinced a strong interest in the terrier Breeds and held a terrier licence. At a show in the 60's - the National Capital Agricultural Society (a precursor of the current Canberra Royal) Col Dunbar officiated and gave the Kendalls' CH MOWCOP MAESTRO the group. He served the Club as patron for many years and regularly attended Club events where his personality and depth of knowledge was greatly appeciated by members. He is remembered within the ACTCA by the Dunbar Awards presented each year at the AGM to dogs who have obtained both an obedience and conformation title during the year.

Treasurer: Ms Jill Campain - Redcourt Skye Terriers

Club meetings are held every two months at the ACTCA rooms in the Dogs Area at EPIC. A newsletter is also produced every two months.
